Terminology: As the LGBTQ+ community continues to expand, our vocabulary becomes ever more expansive. And understanding the cultural language for a community can greatly enhance your understanding and support. We have provided a handout that has included many of the common terms utilized withing the LGBTQ+ community. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list as new terms are adopted regularly. However, this list will provide at least a glimps into our cultural language.

LGBTQ+ Related Articles: There are a number of ways one can gain knowledge about the LGBTQ+ community. Reading articles related to the LGBTQ+ community is only one option. Doing simple internt searches can provide a multitude of scholarly articles, website, and blogs that will provide information that can be utilized. The list we have provided is not exhaustive. nor have they been vetted for their content, there are new articles and information being published everyday. It simple represents a snippit and is a jumping off point for gaining insight and developing allyship in general. This list has been adapted from many lists available online and put together by the Queer Ally Program.
Additionally, there are a vast variety of LGBTQ+ related Journals with past and current publication that could be a wonderful resource. The UC Merced library is also a good place to start is your looking. to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community.
